    Islanders take two from Mavs

    The University of Nebraska at Omaha capped its opening weekend with a pair of losses at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday, falling 3-2 and 7-2. In game one, freshman Alex Mortensen and senior Scotty Donner drove in runs for the Mavericks (1-3). Corpus Christi broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh with Jeramie Marek's walk-off single.

    UNO splits opener against Corpus Christi

    The University of Nebraska at Omaha baseball team split a season-opening doubleheader at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, falling 3-0 in the opener before a 2-1 win in the nightcap. Islanders starter Adam Hoelscher threw a five-hit shutout in the opener, and UNO committed three errors.

    Road-heavy schedule will test Mavs

We'll see them again next year. "My wife is going to get to work on her (snow) shoveling and lawn-mowing," UNO coach Bob Herold joked.
