CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The University of Nebraska at Omaha capped its opening weekend with a pair of losses at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday, falling 3-2 and 7-2.
In game one, freshman Alex Mortensen and senior Scotty Donner drove in runs for the Mavericks (1-3).
Corpus Christi broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh with Jeramie Marek's walk-off single. In the nightcap, the Islanders jumped to a 3-0 first-inning lead on two hits and an error to hold off UNO, which outhit Corpus Christi 7-6.
The Mavs return to action with a four-game series beginning Friday at Washington State. Friday's doubleheader begins at 4 p.m., followed by single 2 p.m. games Saturday and Sunday.
