CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The University of Nebraska at Omaha baseball team split a season-opening doubleheader at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, falling 3-0 in the opener before a 2-1 win in the nightcap.
Islanders starter Adam Hoelscher threw a five-hit shutout in the opener, and UNO committed three errors.
In the second game, Matt Tew combined with two relievers on a five-hitter, and UNO scored twice in the eighth inning to rally.
Tyler Splichal and Alex Mortensen each had RBIs for the Mavs, who continue the series with a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. Sunday
