AMES, Iowa — The UNO softball team opened its first season in Division I with a pair of losses at the UNI-Dome Classic at Iowa State on Saturday.
The Mavs opened with a 7-1 loss to Green Bay before falling to Valparaiso 6-0.
UNO had 13 hits in the game against Green Bay, but stranded 11 runners. Lauren Larson had lone RBI for the Mavs, singling home Lindsay Redding to put UNO up 1-0 in the first inning.
In the second game, the Mavs managed just four hits against Valparaiso pitcher Alex Lagesse. Valpo's Amanda Wisniewski went 3 for 3 and hit a solo home run.
UNO continues play at the tournament Sunday, facing North Dakota and Northern Iowa.
