Maverick men fall to Leathernecks

Gift will fund new facility at UNO
The UNO athletic department and the University of Nebraska Foundation announced Tuesday a gift by local benefactors Brian and Carey Hamilton toward the construction of an on-campus Academic Excellence Center that will carry their name. "We are very grateful to the Hamiltons for their support of our student-athletes and the investment that they have made in the students' academic success," UNO Athletic Director Trev Alberts said in a press release.

UNO women notch another Division I win
The UNO women’s basketball team picked up its second win over a Division I team this season, knocking off Texas-Arlington 60-52 on Tuesday. Jamie Nash scored 17 points and Paige Frauendorfer added 16 points and eight rebounds as UNO improved to 12-9 while recording its second Division I road win.

Mavs pick up recruit from Minnesota
Jake Randolph, a winger from Duluth (Minn.) East, has verbally committed to a hockey scholarship off from UNO, according to published reports. The son of Duluth East coach Mike Randolph, Jake Randolph said he accepted an offer from Maverick coach Dean Blais.

Home will look sweet to Mavs when they battle D-I foe

"I think we're all excited about not crawling onto a bus or an airplane to play," UNO coach Derrin Hansen said. "I'm not sure how many teams in the country haven't played at home for 35 days."

Q&A with UNO forward Brent Gwidt

More comfortable on the left wing, Gwidt has filled in at center on the Mavs' third line. He has a career-high five goals and six assists, with many of his goals coming in key situations. Before coming to UNO, he was drafted in the sixth round by the Washington Capitals and played with the USHL's Indiana Ice.
